Sh*t happened 1/9/15: COPS, arrow cat and Kriseman arts controversy

It's tough to make light of yesterday's news, because yesterday pretty much confirmed that everything is terrible and we don't know what to do about it.

A 25-year-old Bay area manthrew his 5-year-old daughter off the Dick Misener Bridge approaching the Skyway. The little girl died. Details are now emerging that show the man had a long history of violence and delusion. Our nation's mental healthcare protocols are a fucking shambles. Please, if you know someone who seems to be suffering from emotional illness and may be capable of harming themselves or someone else, tell somebody about it. Forget that they might hate you for it; forget that it might not be any of your business. You could save somebody's life.

Cops are looking for the asshole suspect who shot a cat with a crossbow bolt in Riverview. The asshole suspect — oh, what the hell, asshole — is probably male, and carrying a goddamned crossbow.

Three peopleabruptly resigned from St. Petersburg's arts advisory council, blaming Mayor Rick Kriseman and calling him a "roadblock" to the city's development as an arts destination. Man, I can't wait to see the mural that comes out of this...

And finally, this Saturday's episode of long-running reality series COPS on the Spike network will feature Pinellas Sheriff's deputies. All rumors that the episode features an appearance by a CL employee are purely speculative, but we can pretty much guarantee a visit to a trailer park where a woman with blood all over her face explains that she fell down on that ice pick while her man hides in a nearby meth-shed.
