Bernie Sanders watch parties set for Wednesday throughout Tampa Bay

On Wednesday, Senator Bernie "the Berninator" Sanders (I-Vermont) is going to make the case for why he should be the next president.

The passionately outspoken liberal candidate obviously faces an uphill Democratic primary battle against Hillary Clinton, who is fueled largely by gobs of name recognition and corporate campaign money.

Although he's still relatively unheard of compared to the Bushes and Clintons of national politics, Sanders is currently experiencing something of Howard-Dean-circa-2003-esque surge of late, speaking to crowds of thousands and inspiring grassroots campaigning across generations of progressives.

It might have something to do with his message, which is unabashedly progressive. Judging by his actions, unlike his counterparts in either major party, Sanders actually is interested in policies that strengthen the middle class and lift people out of poverty, even if it demotes the super-duper rich down to just super-rich. As a Senator he has sought everything from a $15 minimum wage to free college tuition and has certainly caught flack for doing so.

Perhaps that's why he's streaming video of Wednesday's speech into more than 1,500 homes and public spaces across the country. If you're reading this, you may even know someone who's hosting or planning to attend one.

The Washington Post explained earlier why he's doing it.

On that Wednesday night, six months before the Iowa caucus, Sanders will livestream his case for the presidency to more than 1,500 simultaneous gatherings planned in bars, coffee shops and living rooms nationwide. The candidate’s address will be followed by an organizational meeting for anyone who wants to stay online and discuss joining his campaign.

You can find out more about the events—and the candidate—at his campaign Web site.
